Some have out grown it, while others have taken their enjoyment to the next level.  People have taken the original Barbie Doll and have customized her to their own life styles, or life styles of others. This craze has gotten so wide spread and known by many that Mattel themselves have stood up and taken notice. Example,  Goth Barbies.

Goth Barbies have been “home brewed” for many years and have reached such a huge following, that Mattel themselves started producing a limited edition of Goth Barbie back in 2008.
